- Wild Alaska keta salmon are a favorite of our fishermen. A brilliant silver when pulled off the hook, keta’s luster is contrasted by a mild flavor that will even have the seafood-adverse hooked. Know someone who claims they don’t like salmon? Feed ‘em keta and you’ll have yourself a convert.
- The robust flavor of Wild Alaska sockeye salmon is perfect for pan-frying with a savory pan sauce, grilling as kabobs, or simply baking on a sheet pan with vegetables, herbs, spices, and oil.
Both sockeye and keta are sublime when cured into gravlax or ceviche. Not sure what gravlax is or how to make it? No problem! As part of this box, you’ll get everything you’ll need to try three different gravlax preparations: a pickling blend, a pink peppercorn and dill blend, and a classic juniper berry blend. And, as an added bonus, you’re invited to join our Culinary Team for a virtual gravlax curing class tentatively scheduled for June 7. It doesn’t get easier than that!

What is “the Freezer”?
Although we try our best to forecast exactly how much of a season’s harvest to purchase from our small-boat fishermen, the community supported fishery model has some natural variability to it. It’s both an art and a science to decide how much to buy and how to distribute the catch as evenly as possible among share members. More important and ultimately, species availability is dependent on the health of the fisheries themselves.
When we have a surplus of delicious premium quality seafood after the season’s 4- to 5-pound share boxes are packed, we “stock” the Freezer and make its bounty available to our members or folks who want to try before they buy shares.
We also have unique and seasonal opportunities to purchase additional seafood from our fishermen or trusted partners (but not necessarily enough for all the shares). When we do, we’ll add them to the Freezer for you to order.
Is this the same fish I get in the CSF?
Well, yes and no. The seafood in the Freezer is of the same premium quality from our fishermen or trusted partners. However, not all items in the Freezer will be available in monthly CSF shares and vice versa.
Can I just order one type of fish?
Sometimes we will offer single species boxes in the Freezer in addition to mixed species boxes. We are not currently customizing any of our Freezer boxes.
Do you offer discounts when I order more than one box?
Members enrolled in the 2021 CSF season will receive 10% off Freezer seafood boxes. This applies to ordering one or many. If you are not a member, we encourage you to become one, as access to special discounts and sales are another great membership perk!
