Baked Miso 'Butterfish'

One of the easiest preparations for sablefish (black cod), this quick miso-topped fish is packed with umami flavor and comes together in under 30 minutes.
Ingredients
- 4, 5-6 ounce sablefish (black cod) fillets
- 1/2 cup white miso
- 1/4 cup mirin
- 1/4 cup fresh squeezed orange juice
- 1 tablespoons soy sauce or coconut aminos
Directions
Prep oven + sauce
Move the top rack of your oven 3-4 inches away from the heat source and set to broil.
In a small sauce pot, whisk together miso, mirin, orange juice and soy sauce. Turn on heat to medium low and stir occasionally. Remove from heat just before it reaches a boil.
Bake fish
Pat fillets dry with a paper towel and place them on a parchment lined baking sheet, skin side down. Evenly distribute miso marinade on top of the fish.
Place sablefish (black cod) in oven and broil for 10-12, minutes or until fish is fully opaque and cooked through. Thin fillets need about 10 minutes. Thicker fillets may need an additional 2-5 minutes. Remove from the oven and serve hot.
