Captain Stu's Teriyaki Black Cod

Serves: 4 | Difficulty:

In the video above, Stu and his family show you how to make a super simple recipe for teriyaki black cod. This dish is great served with some wilted greens, or a vegetable stir-fry and rice!

Ingredients

4, 4-ounce black cod fillets
¾ cup of your favorite teriyaki sauce
1 tablespoon freshly grated ginger
4 garlic cloves, minced to a paste

Or you can make your own sauce

½ cup soy sauce
3 tablespoons brown sugar
1 tablespoon freshly grated ginger
4 garlic cloves, minced to a paste
¼ cup mirin
1 teaspoon cornstarch
1 teaspoon water

Directions

If you are making your own sauce:
Combine water and cornstarch in a small bowl to create a slurry. In a small saucepan over medium-low, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, ginger, garlic and mirin. Stir in cornstarch slurry and simmer until sauce is thick enough to coat the back of a spoon.

Start here if you have teriyaki sauce on-hand:
In a large resealable bag, place black cod fillets with teriyaki sauce. Marinate for at least 2 hours, but overnight is preferable.

Preheat a gas or charcoal grill over medium heat. Place marinated black cod fillets skin-side down on the grates. Cover and cook for approximately 12-15 minutes or until the black cod begins to flake. Serve immediately!
